Frequently Asked Questions
I was 9 and my mom left & my dad was put in prison for 10 years. My brothers and sisters were into drugs & alcohol, I tried to go to school , but I dropped out in 11th grade & tried to work. Now I’m 19, I’ve been living with some family members and some friends, but they can’t help me any more. I didn’t have a job and I was pregnant. I don’t know who the father is. I didn’t know where I would go or what I would do. I came to Mercy, got a job and my GED and I am going to go to college to be a teacher. I’ve learned how to make goals and how to do things for myself. I’m 21 now and life is still hard, but I’m making it with my little boy and I know every step I take toward my goals will make our lives better. Mercy gave me the start I needed.
